william pike cave stream

I was fast asleep until I heard footsteps come into my room, and in a loud voice called my name “Cooper” “Cooper” wake up we have to get you to school for your cave stream camp. I got up in a loud moaning voice, I didn't want to get up but I did anyway I got dressed and had breakfast then I packed my day bag then I put my bags in the car and we headed down to the school. When I got there there was not many people there, so I got out of the car to see which car I was getting into, I was getting in Brayden dads car with Brayden and Archie and then we took off, after about ten minutes we were bored so we played eye spy for the most of the way, then we arrived I wasn't feeling too worried but we had lunch, then the time came we got suited up we all gathered to have a small briefing, after that, we had to walk down this small hill and into the stream then we walked the stream bed up to the cave. I was feeling a little scared because I didn't like caves we took a group photo then we went in, it was a little chilly at the start but it wasn't too bad the first five minutes it was just windy then we stopped a third of the way, then our teacher said to turn your torches off it was pitch black, like pitch black it was darker than anything I have witnessed before, then we turned our torches back on. Me and Liam were talking for a bit, then we came to a little waterfall we had to climb up it, it wasn’t too bad I just could not see what to grab onto then about another ten minutes later we had to duck under a rock with water coming at you, then we got to the end there was a bit off a ladder that you had to crawl under a big rock and crawl about five meters with the ledge on the other side of you so you had to hold on to the chain that was there so you didn’t slip in or fall in, I was finally out, I had made it through cave stream me and a couple of friends walked upstream a bit to come across a small, not to deep swimming hole, we sat there and had a little talk to everybody then headed back to the cars and got dressed.

  1. Hi Cooper,
Firstly it is awesome to see you blogging. What a challenge for you! I was pleased to read you could openly say that you were nervous about the caving, that's exactly what the William Pike Challenge is about. Putting yourself out of your comfort zone in an unknown environment. How did you feel after you came out? I am thinking a real sense of accomplishment. Well done.
